Once a year, the Brand Research Institute, Inc. conducts a survey of more than 30,000 consumers to select the most attractive cities, towns, and villages from among 1,000 municipalities across Japan.
Hakodate has ranked first in this survey many times, and has always been at the top of the ranking since the survey began in 2006.
Hakodate’s most famous attraction is its nightview. The unique topography of Hakodate, flanked on both sides by the sea, creates a beautiful nightscape. The Michelin Guide Hokkaido also lists more than 30 restaurants in Hakodate alone.
Hakodate is a fantastic place for nature lovers. Visitors can experience four seasons of Japan including the cherry blossoms in spring, autumn leaves in fall, and the snowy landscapes in winter. It is also a great place for outdoor activities, such as canoeing, camping, and mountain climbing, as well as skiing, snowboarding, and ice skating in winter.
We hope you will visit Hakodate, a city with too many attractions to mention. We look forward to welcoming you soon!
